It’s sweater weather, time to check out the holiday activities in and around San Diego!

1. Balboa Park December Nights

A tradition dating back for over 40 years, families all over San Diego visit Balboa Park for December Nights. Sadly this year due to the current pandemic, December Nights will not occur like usual. Instead they are hosting a “Taste of December Nights”. This will have food vendors and food trucks setup in a drive-thru setting in the Inspiration Point parking lot near Balboa Park.

2. Hotel Del Coronado Winter Wonderland

Every holiday season between November 26th and December 31st the Hotel Del Coronado decorates their grounds turning it into a Winter Wonderland. This year they will have a 35-foot Christmas tree in the center of their beachfront Windsor Lawn. They also will be taking photos with Santa although reservations are required, so please visit their site for more details. Usually they also offer the unique experience to ice skate on the beach, but we are going to have to wait for next year to enjoy ice skating on the beach.

3. SeaWorld Christmas Celebration

SeaWorld decorates every year with a celebration starting on November 13th and running until January 4th. Families can meet furry and festive characters (while social distancing of course), watch the Dolphin Island Christmas presentation and the sea lion comedy show with Clyde & Seamore’s Christmas Special. Single day tickets are $63.99 per adult or child.

7. Take A Day Trip To Julian

Located about a hour east of San Diego, the holidays are a great time to visit the quaint town of Julian. Known for their fresh baked apple pies and possible snowfall in the month of December, Julian is a great day trip getaway. The area around Julian is a mixed pine-oak woodland which is a nice change of scenery from the coastal and desert areas of San Diego County. Be sure to buy some extra pies to go to take back home and enjoy in our beautiful city!
